The Aquila organic portfolio has been built on investment with sustainability at its core. Now one of the largest organic milk suppliers in the Southern Hemisphere, the opportunity to leverage off this well-established turn-key operation is truly unique in the dairy industry.

Owned by Germany-headquartered Aquila Capital, one of Germany’s first alternative investment management companies, the portfolio has an amalgamated farm footprint of 2,970.94 hectares across six EU certified organic dairy units, and 871 hectares from two supporting organic lease blocks.

Created on principles of sustainability, the goal was to develop a scaled organic milk producer that was resilient to future environmental compliance legislation and capture an organic milk price premium to mitigate the downside risk to commodity pricing.

Now the largest single supplier of certified organic milk in New Zealand and one of the largest in the Southern Hemisphere, this rare opportunity is the culmination of Aquila’s long term strategic plan to create a portfolio of sustainable organic dairy farms. The investment fund was launched in 2011 with a 10-year development and divestment strategy, the portfolio is to be offered to the market in 2021.

New owners not only have the opportunity to short circuit the investment in time and money to create a portfolio of this scale, but more importantly, leverage off the intellectual property developed through the fully-integrated management model.
